Alasdair Hawthorn
Alasdair trained at the RSAMD and graduated with a BA in dramatic studies.
He has directed The Forsyth Saga, David Copperfield, Beyond Reasonable Doubt and Whiskey Galore at Eastwood Theatre; Steel Magnolias and Calamity Jane at the Mitchell Theatre; The Wizard of Oz, Chicago and Some Like It Hot at The King's Theatre. He also directed Scottish tours of Whodidit? and Salon Janette, the latter starring High Road's Mary Riggins.
In 1994 he founded Luckenbooth Theatre Company chiefly to mount the Scottish Premièr of Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens which subsequently played at the Arches Theatre during Mayfest and at The Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, before being invited by Crusaid (Scotland) to direct a star-studdied gala version as part of the Edinburgh Fringe, where he worked with the likes of Eleanor Bron, David Rintoul, Lindsay Duncan, Greg Proops and Graham Norton. Luckenbooth has since staged a small-scale tour of Shirley Valentine.
He worked as assistant director on productions of Dancing at Lughnasa and Stephen Sondheim's Into The Woods at RSAMD and last year was assistant director on a production of Cabaret as well as playing the part of Emcee at Hereford's new theatre, The Courtyard.
Towards the end of 1999, Alasdair returned to Hereford in the position of associate director, co-directing productions of Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story as well as directing the pantomime, Aladdin.
As an actor, Alasdair has appeared in productions of A Wholly Healthy Glasgow, Molly's Collar and Tie, Spitting In The Face Of Eve, Talk Radio, The Wizard Of Oz and pantomimes Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and Dick Whittington directed by Jimmy Logan.
Film and TV work includes Dr. Finlay, F.O.T., Para Handy, Breath of Angels and two of the Famous People series for Channel Four. Alasdair recently appeared in his first feature film My Life So Far opposite Colin Firth and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantino.
