Joining Pantheon

Pantheon depends on its members to produce high quality drama and musicals. We are always looking for fresh talent, off-stage and on, and we welcome new members throughout the year.

The Club is open to members aged 16 and over. Membership of the Club is by audition for performing members, or by interview for backstage members.

Fees for membership are currently:

  • £40 per annum (full membership)
  • £30 per annum (student/registered unemployed)
  • £20 per annum (backstage)

There is also a one-off joining fee of £10 which is applicable if you are successful in your audition.

Please note that casting of all productions is by competitive audition. Membership of the Pantheon Club does not, per se, guarantee the right to appear in any production.

The Audition

For the audition, we ask you to prepare a song to sing, and to bring sheet music of the accompaniment with you. There will be a pianist at auditions, who will be happy to play over the song with you before you sing for the panel.

We also ask that you prepare a speech of approximately 2 minutes to perform. You are not required to learn the speech by heart, but it is probably best if you choose a speech you are very familiar with, and which you are comfortable performing. There are books of audition speeches available in the drama section of most of the larger book stores. If you need someone to read opposite you in a duologue, one of the panel will be happy to oblige.

The auditions are held before a panel of Club members (usually at least one member of the Board of Directors, and two ordinary members of the Club). The audition panel is different every time, to ensure fairness.

Successful applicants will be invited to become members of the Pantheon Club, and will then be eligible to take part in pre-audition rehearsals for forthcoming productions.
